Mark Pathy Mavrik Corp

Mark Pathy

CEO &
CHAIRMAN

  • Prior to founding MAVRIK, Mark Pathy was President and CEO of Fednav International Ltd., an international dry bulk shipping company, and co-CEO of its parent company Fednav Limited. He remains a member of the group’s Board of Directors. Before joining Fednav in 1999, Mark worked in advertising in Toronto.

    Mark is the Chairman of the Board of Stingray Group Inc., a position he has held since November 2017 after initially joining the Board in 2015. Stingray is a publicly traded leading music, media, and technology company based in Montreal.

    Mark strongly believes in the importance of philanthropy. He is Chairman of the Board of the Pathy Family Foundation, and the Dans La Rue Foundation. In addition, he is a member of the Montreal Children's Hospital Foundation's Board and Executive Campaign Cabinet.

    Mark obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto in 1993 and a Master’s in Business Administration from INSEAD in 1998.

Bradley White

PRESIDENT &
CHIEF INVESTMENT OFFICER

  • As President and Chief Investment Officer of MAVRIK, Brad heads up all of the group’s investment activities and oversees all other day-to-day functions within the Family Office, including strategic planning, governance and group-wide operations. Brad joined MAVRIK in 2019, prior to which he spent over 20 years in commercial law, finance, and family office roles. 

    Brad began his career as a lawyer in the Mergers and Acquisitions group at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in New York. He subsequently served as a Director in the Mergers and Acquisitions group at UBS Investment Bank, also in New York.  Most recently, Brad spent 10 years as Investment Director for the Westminster Group, a London-based single-family office, which Brad helped to build and manage during his time with the group.

    Brad has earned a BA in Political Science and Economics from McGill University, as well as a JD degree and MBA from Cornell University.

Daniel Bernier

VICE PRESIDENT,
OPERATIONS

  • Daniel joined MAVRIK in 2018. As the VP of Finance, he is responsible for all financial matters for the Family Office, including financial planning, taxes, and accounting. In addition, he is also MAVRIK’s head of operations, oversees group hiring, and assists with personal matters for the CEO and his family.

    Prior to joining MAVRIK, Daniel worked as the Director of Finance for a sizeable asset administrator, whilst being involved in significant negotiations and leading the reorganization of the entity. Daniel also worked for a national accounting firm, directly working with a broad range of clients from SME to publicly listed companies.

    Daniel is also highly involved on the boards of multiple SMEs and NPOs, guiding them with their strategic and structure planning, M&A, and more.

    Daniel holds a BAA and DESS.CP from HEC Montréal. Daniel was also granted the Chartered Accountant title (CPA auditor, CA).

Rick Gorab

SENIOR
ADVISOR

  • Rick Gorab is the Senior Advisor at MAVRIK. He has over twenty years of experience working with family offices to develop a strong overall investment strategy, select investments, and monitor portfolio performance based on that strategy.

    Rick’s investment career has taken him to Canada, the UK, Switzerland, and the Middle East, with a diversified client base including banks, family offices, and sovereign wealth funds. His investment career started with Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management in London, UK. Most recently Rick was based in Dubai as the Director and Chief Representative of RBC’s Middle East operations. In that capacity, he was in charge of RBC’s wealth management, trust operations, global custody, and pension business for the Middle East, India and Africa.

    Rick earned a BComm from the University of Toronto and an MBA from Erasmus University in the Netherlands.

Aditya Kurian

DIRECTOR OF INVESTMENTS

  • As Director of Investments, Aditya heads public market investments and overall asset allocation at MAVRIK. For public equities and fixed income, Aditya sets strategic targets and leads manager sourcing and due diligence across geographies. Prior to Mavrik, Aditya spent 8 years in global macro and asset allocation roles.

    Aditya started his career in the Global Asset Allocation group at BCA Research, helping North American allocators structure and optimize a global multi-asset portfolio. He also worked as a Macro Strategist at PGM Global, presenting clients with original global macro investment ideas in public markets.

    Aditya has a BComm in Economics and Finance from McGill University and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations.

Cedrik Paquin-Henri

INVESTMENT ASSOCIATE

  • As part of the investment team at MAVRIK, Cedrik oversees private market investments including strategic development, sourcing, diligence, and monitoring opportunities. Prior to joining MAVRIK, Cedrik worked in assurance specializing in financial institutions as well as consulting in the Deals Advisory department of KPMG LLP.

    Cedrik earned a Graduate Degree in Professional Accounting and a BComm from McGill University. He holds a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA) designations.

Aafsheen Rizvi

INVESTMENT ANALYST, IMPACT

  • As part of the investment team at MAVRIK, Aafsheen’s focus includes investment analysis, reporting and process integration for impact-focused opportunities. Prior to joining MAVRIK, Aafsheen spent 5 years in the renewable energy sector across management consulting, product development, and equity research roles.

    Aafsheen started his career as an Economist with Genesis Ray Energy in New Delhi. He subsequently worked as an Energy Markets Analyst at ICF, also in New Delhi. Most recently, Aafsheen served as an Equity Analyst at Desautels Capital Management in Montréal.

    Aafsheen has earned a BA (Honours) in Business Economics from Delhi University, a M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Nottingham as well as a Master’s of Management in Finance from McGill University.

Jordan Sheftman

INVESTMENT ANALYST

  • As part of the investment team at MAVRIK, Jordan’s focus includes analysis and due diligence of new opportunities, as well as monitoring the existing portfolio.

    Prior to joining MAVRIK, Jordan spent several years at Palomino Capital, a Montréal-based Family Office, where he worked closely with the team to source and underwrite investment opportunities across different asset classes.

    Jordan holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (honours) from Dalhousie University and is currently pursuing a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation. As a part of the University Co-Operative Program, Jordan has held investment and/or M&A roles at Marsh & McLennan, Palomino Capital, and Paysafe Group.

Kheu Sing (Lucy)
Chher

DIRECTOR, PERFORMANCE,
REPORTING & RISK

  • As Director of Reporting, Performance and Risk, Kheu Sing (Lucy) Chher leads the overall risk analytics and performance reporting functions at MAVRIK. She is responsible for the data quality and integrity of the Investment Portfolio, as well as forecasting capital flow and asset allocation projections.

    Lucy began her career in aerospace engineering at CAE before stepping into the financial markets in 2012. She joined Formula Growth as an Analyst in trading and risk management and evolved to being the Director of Risk and Analytics.

    Lucy graduated from McGill University with a BA in Mathematics and Computer Sciences. She holds an MBA in Investment Management and received the CFA charter holder designation in 2017.

    Pursuing excellence and integrity has always been her guiding principle in life and professionally.

Hayley
Toivanen

FINANCIAL
CONTROLLER

  • As Financial Controller at MAVRIK, Hayley oversees financial reporting, budgeting, compliance, and treasury. She is committed to increasing the quality and relevance of financial data across departments and interfaces to enhance operations and outcomes. She values the continual refinement of processes in her work, along with thoughtful, clear presentation of data for effective decision-making.

    Prior to joining MAVRIK, Hayley worked as a general accountant managing venture-capital investments in the biotech sector of Montreal.

    Hayley holds the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation and has a Graduate Degree in Professional Accounting from the John Molson School of Business. She also holds a Master’s Degree in English Literature from the University of Toronto.

Catherine Dezoete

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT TO THE PRESIDENT
& OFFICE COORDINATOR

  • Catherine Dezoete is the Executive Assistant to both the President/Chief Investment Officer and the Vice President of Finance, as well as the Office Coordinator for MAVRIK. With over 5 years of experience, she continues to play an integral role in managing and facilitating professional and personal matters for her superiors, whilst being responsible for office matters such as branding, communications, facilities, and other day-to-day operations.

    Prior to being an Executive Assistant, Catherine studied Social Services at Dawson College and had the opportunity to learn and work in challenging communities such as the Native Women’s Shelter of Montreal, Tyndale-St-Georges, Lev-Tov Residence, and more. She continues to thrive in helping environments where needed.

    In addition to her Dawson College education, Catherine earned an AEC (Attestation of College Studies) from Lasalle College’s Administrative Assistant program in 2019 to help further her EA role.
